The synopsis for the new Star Wars Cassian Andor series has been reveled, and it shows that the show will play like a spy thriller.
Cassian Andor, portrayed by Diego Luna, who was introduced in Rouge One: A Star Wars Story. The movie taking place right before the events of A New Hope, Rouge One was Lucasfilm's first film to tell a story outside of The Skywalker Saga. 'Rouge One' is the story about how the rebels obtained the Death Star plans and delivered them to the rebellion.
Back in 2018, it was announced that Diego Luna's character Cassian Andor was getting his own spin-off TV series on Disney+. Reprising his role as Andor, and Allen Tyduk as the droid K-2SO. We know very little about the show as a whole but we now have some new information from The Illiuminerdi, who has found the synopsis for the show, read here:
"The adventures of Rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Diego Luna will reprise the role of Andor, which he originated in the 2016 film. The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire."Taking this synopsis, it is likely that it will be Star Wars' first attempt at a spy thriller. The show will be much like The Mandalorian was made to resemble a western genre TV show. The synopsis eludes to the show having a darker more adult geared theme with less flashy action sequences and diving deeper into slower paced intimate scenes between characters.
The show was supposed to start filming January 2020 but now has been delayed until further notice due to rewrites. The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has also been put on hold in the middle of pre production. The reasoning behind these delays is because of Lucasfilms president, Kathleen Kennedy seemingly being unhappy with the way the story was being written and demanding it be redone.
Shifting away from the main series films with the conclusion of The Skywalker Saga, Disney and Lucasfilm are shifting into making more TV series' in the coming years with more feature films down the pipeline. Star Wars: The High Republic was announced last week. A new novel and comic series that will dive into the era of the Republic hundreds of years before the prequels. We can't wait to see all these future projects released in the next coming years.
