We have now gained confirmation that Rosario Dawson has now been cast as Ahsoka Tano in 'THe Mandalorian season 2.
Yesterday we learned big news about The Mandalorian season 2. We are excited to report that Rosario Dawson has now been cast to play Ahsoka Tano in the upcoming season of The Mandalorian. Ahsoka is a fan-favorite and arguably the main character of Star Wars: The Clone Wars series, who just started streaming it's seventh and final season on Disney+. Dawson will be portraying the characters debut in live action television. Ahsoka has only appeared in the animated The Clone Wars show thus far.
The co-creator of Ahsoka in animated form, Dave Faloni, is a writer, producer, and director on The Mandalorian. Making his live action directorial debut making multiple episodes of the first season, and we saw a few weeks back Faloni returning to direct on the second season. Lucasfilm however has not made any comments regarding this as of yet. We are sure they will come out to confirm this in the coming days.
This is a dream come true for fans. Back in 2017, a fan has tweeted Rosario Dawsom, asking her to appear in a Star Wars movie starring Ahsoka, and she responded, “Ummmm… yes, please?! #AhsokaLives” When she appeared on Good Morning America she was asked about the fan campaign and she said “It would be amazing!” We agree, and now we have this news we can't wait to see Ahsoka When The Mandalorian comes to Disney+ later this year.
So, now that we have this news, what role will she play in The Mandalorian? Ahsoka made a appearance in the epilogue of the Star Wars Rebels Series finale entitled "Family Reunion - and Farewell"(Below) that teases something more is coming from the character. After the Empires destruction Ahsoka decided to join the Mandalorian Sabine Wren while she searches for Ezra Bridger, who disappeared while battling Grand Admiral Thrawn. “Ezra’s out there somewhere,” Sabine thinks to herself. “And it’s time to bring him home.” This being an hint at a future spin-off/sequel or even a movie.
Last month Disney CEO Bob Iger mentioned that The Mandalorian season 2 will be coming in October, and more thereafter in the years to come. He included the possibility of bringing more familiar characters to the show in subsequent seasons.
We know that there is a Obi-Wan Kenobi series coming in the next few years and, this is just speculation, but maybe we will see some sort of cross-over into the Kenobi TV show for Ahsoka? Here's hoping! Her appearance may also mean that she may be getting her own series or even feature film in the coming years. It is hard to know what is instore for Ahsoka's character but this is a great Star and I hope to see more of her than just in The Mandalorian.
