Stephenie Meyer Announces a New Twilight Book "Midnight Sun"

It has been twelve years since the last Twilight book, Breaking Dawn, was released. Monday, best-selling author Stephenie Meyer announced that she will be continuing the vampire love story with a brand new companion novel, Midnight Sun. It is slated to release on August 4, 2020. The book will be a retelling of the Twilight origin story, but this time from the sparkly perspective of Edward Cullen.
“As we learn more fascinating details about Edward’s past and the complexity of his inner thoughts, we understand why this is the defining struggle of his life,” publisher Little, Brown and Company writes in its synopsis, “How can he let himself fall in love with Bella when he knows that he is endangering her life?”
Back in 2008, a 12-chapter section of the book leaked online which caused Meyer to shelf the project. However, as we all know the internet never sleeps and 'Twi-hards' have been clambering for its release ever since, just hoping one day it would be a reality. Luckily Meyer had given us a taste of what was to come in a now-deleted post of the book on her website.
In a video she did for Good Morning America she said:
“It’s a crazy time right now and I wasn’t sure it was the right time to put this book out, but some of you have been waiting for just so so long it didn’t seem right to make you wait any more.”
Fans all around the globe took to Twitter to share their support for the author and show their thirst for another installment of The Twilight Saga.
Some fans quickly pointing out the comparison between Edward's death in the book being caused by the Spanish Flu in 1918, before he was adopted by his vampire-dad Carlisle Cullen, and our current global situation.

You may be asking yourself if there is any hope that there will be a reunion or another movie made, but sadly that is very unlikely. Pattinson has said in the past that he is done with the franchise and he did not really seem interested in it outside of his paycheck.
Fans are hoping that there might be some hope though. There is currently a movement on Twitter to have him voice the audio version of this book. Which honestly, would be amazing.

We will see what the future holds for the franchise as a whole and maybe we will get an audiobook treat this summer when Midnight Sun is finally published.
