Rosario Dawson Rumored To Have Filmed As Ahsoka Tano For 'The Mandalorian' Season 2 Marketing

With the October premiere date of The Mandalorian season 2 approaching, Star Wars fans have been yearning for a trailer so that they may get a glimpse at the upcoming episodes. Some were expecting a trailer to drop a week ago during the NBA playoffs, but such a trailer drop did not come to fruition. These past couple days, we have gotten gameplay for Star Wars: Squadrons and LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga out of gamecom. Plus, the Celebration 2019 trailer for The Clone Wars season 7 was finally uploaded to the Star Wars YouTube channel. Though these videos have been very welcome, they are not The Mandalorian season 2 trailer that people are still asking for Lucasfilm to release.

With expectations for a live-action Ahsoka Tano portrayed by Rosario Dawson to make an appearance on the show, fans have been eager to see a live-action glimpse of this fan-favorite character. Over on YouTube, Kessel Run Transmissions have claimed that Dawson has shot footage intended for the marketing of the upcoming season, which may explain a delay in the release of the trailer. Kessel Run Transmissions described the scene as Ahsoka, clad in a gray cloak, fighting two bounty hunter assassins. The location of this confrontation is said to be a location familiar to Star Wars fans, implied to be a cantina. Kessel Run Transmissions said that their sources described the footage as “phenomenal.”

If this footage was shot this late in the process, then this is rather odd. So for the sake of expectations, it would be best to take this with a grain of salt. Some fans (myself included) have been speculating that Ahsoka may appear at the end of the trailer, feeling like some sort of “Chewie we’re home” moment. However, one could also imagine her appearing earlier in the trailer, even in a fight sequence like the one described by Kessel Run Transmissions. Then again, she might not appear in the trailer at all. Her appearance could be a surprise saved for the show, if she is appearing at all.

Whatever we do end up seeing, the desire to see a trailer for season 2 is a testament to how eager the viewers are to see new content come out of The Mandalorian. The desire to see live-action Ahsoka is also a testament to how far the character has come in the franchise and the fandom. She was not very well-received by some back in her 2008 debut in The Clone Wars movie, but the TV series impressed many fans to the point where she has become a fan-favorite, even becoming the face of the final season of The Clone Wars in the marketing. If she does appear in The Mandalorian portrayed by Rosario Dawson, then hopefully the legacy of the character will be honored in a way that makes sense. It is a big galaxy, but Star Wars has a way of bringing familiar characters back into play within the stories of other characters.
